OK, so I certainly don't post on here regularly, but I figured I should at least change our status to "Family of Five!" I freaked out when I put "Family of Four" on here 3 years ago, you can just imagine what it was like to say family of five! :) I'll just post a pic of him and maybe a comparison pic if I can find all the pictures easily :) Oh by the way-"him" is Logan Alan, born June 5th 2013 at 9:15pm weighing 7lbs 9oz and 19.5 inches long.
The short birth story: I went in for my 39 week check up and was dilated to almost 6. The Dr stripped my membranes to see if that would get things moving without actually inducing me. (He was leaving town in a few days). When I got to the hospital at 6pm that evening I was dilated to almost 7. I felt great and it seemed premature to be in the hospital. However, he broke my water around 6:30pm and less than 3 hrs later Logan was born. At 8:30 I was on the cell phone with my mom, but at that point I had a contraction that hurt pretty bad and knew I was done being on the phone. When asked how long I was in labor I don't know when to start from, so I usually just say, it hurt really bad for 45 minutes. :) I pushed 2x during 1 contraction and he was out.

Bath Comparisons
Cayden was 10 months old in this picture. Karis was almost 14 months in this picture:
When I saw this pic it just reminded me of Cayden's picture so I figured I'd do a comparison.

Karis' Update
*Karis has two teeth now! She got her 2nd bottom tooth on Wednesday.
*She will stand by herself for awhile before sitting down and really gets around walking while hanging onto things, but she still hasn't taken her first steps alone.
*She has a strong opinion on what she wants and is becoming a better eater, but only when she wants to (or if I can distract her).
*She is still an excellent sleeper and absolutely adores her big brother. She has started to try and scare us when we open the door to her bedroom, after her nap. This is because every time Cayden goes in to see her he opens the door and tries to startle her (in fun).
*Whenever she wakes up, she immediately starts looking for Cayden and says "k-k"
Pants
A little background before the story:
1. Cayden always goes to the bathroom before taking his nap and for some reason, often leaves his pants behind.
2. If I am napping in my room when Cayden wakes up, he usually quietly climbs into bed next to me.

1st Day of School
Today was Cayden's first day of school. He was very excited and it went quite well. However, I think he thinks we are "playing school." I don't think he realizes this is what is in store for him for many, many, many, many, (oops I got carried away thinking of my role in all this) days/years to come. He is supposed to learn his letters, numbers, shapes, colors and patterns. He knows them all so that makes my job a little easier, but there are other things like learning how to apply the right amount of glue and how to adequately use a scissors that he still needs to work on. He's only 4 so I realize this is normal. However, I need to learn patience and that I have to allow him to do things without helping. I need a lot of prayer!!
Part of me feels like he should go to a "real" school with a teacher other than me because she would be so much more patient, would understand preschool/kindergarden learning styles and abilities. The other part of me is glad that I got to be there for his first day of school and could take pictures and be proud of the fact that he has already learned so much!
(our laptop is dead and Brandon informed me it will NOT be resurrected so until I get a new computer that I know how to upload pictures on we'll have to wait for his first day of school picture)

So Many (Cayden) Things...
Our neighbors were having a garage sale and so there was a sign at the end of our road (near our yard) Cayden said, "I saw that sale sign and thought to my self, 'Ohhh Maaa-an, our house is for sale'" ( I wish there was a way I could express how he said that "Oh Man" b/c that was the funniest part)
Cayden stayed a few nights with my mom when my dad was out of town. It just happened that she'd have errands up until Cayden's bedtime, so she'd pick him up, he'd go to bed, then she'd drop him off again before work. He told her she didn't work like his daddy. When she asked why, he said, "because you go to work, come home, go to work, come home. Daddy goes to work, comes home, plays with me, goes to work, comes home, plays with me." I love that he sees his daddy this way. He sure has a wonderful daddy!
For Cayden's birthday we went to the science center. I realized I was going to need Brandon to stop by after he got done with work so I called and told him. I'm so glad he came because the next day this was Cayden's prayer, "...and thank you that my daddy could come to my birthday party." I never even thought that he'd think about that. He had so much fun with the exhibits and animals and all his friends. But I guess nothing compares to a daddy:)
Mom vs. Mommy
Quick, what are your first thoughts?.... My first thoughts are Mom will defiantly win in a fight of Mom vs. Mommy. Why? Because moms are older, tougher, they've been through it all and mommy's are soft and young and just beginning to go through it all. I want to be mommy, I want to be soft and young, but my son has decided that I now belong in the classification of "Mom." He didn't even ask my opinion, who gave him the right to decide what I"m called? Oh that's right, I guess he did make me a mom/mommy. I suppose if anyone has the right to change my name, it's him. But it makes him seem so grown up and me so OLD! I tried calling him Kade, if he called me Mom, but even that doesn't seem to fix the problem. I guess I'm as my friend Josh says, I'm "old and frumpy" now.
Cayden is reading now! I don't know if I blogged about that before, but in April he started. I have to post a video of that too.
Notes to self: I need to blog about his AWANA grand prix, our trip to Florida, his Birthday party (Science Center/Hotel), the PB fish fry,
He turned 4 on the 23rd and lately he's started calling me "Mom" you might think to yourself "big deal, that's what you are" but I'm not "Mom", I'm "mommy"

So Many (Karis) Things...
I have not been blogging, but almost daily, I think to myself, I have to blog this. So these are the random things I remember:
Karis went a whole week letting me sleep all night! She'd want to eat around 11 or 12, but Brandon was able to feed her then. It was great! The last couple of nights I've had to get up, but at least I've had a full nights sleep a couple of times! She goes to sleep great if we give her a nuk, blankey and lay her down. The hard part is when we are somewhere else (like the car) she can't just lay down.
Karis is a very small girl, so much so that we've taken her to some specialists to see if there's anything we should be doing. During this time (around 8 1/2 months) I started giving her a bottle b/c I thought I might not be producing enough, I'm bummed now that I did that, because I was producing enough and during our trial, I dried up. (But I had to be sure she was getting enough.) I was able to nurse at night until 10 months.
She's still not crawling, there have been a few times when I thought she was showing interest, but it's never turned into anything. Cayden was pulling himself up in his crib, crawling and had teeth by now. Ka
ris is at her own pace! She's really fun lately. I LOVE it when their personalty starts to show.
