Potty Update

On Wednesday Cayden did a pretty good job all morning telling me he was going potty. So we'd rush to the potty chair and he'd finish going. I praised him b/c he was telling me even if we went through about 7 pairs of underwear! So I decided to talk him with me to an appointment. We went to the bathroom right when we got there and about 3 minutes later he was pooping in his underwear. Oh well.

Then yesterday, Thursday, we had an even better morning he told me right away when he needed to or was going and we'd hurry to the bathroom. I decided to take him with me in his underwear to the bank (they had free lunch). He made it all the way there, all through lunch and home again. He then went potty, we put a diaper on him for his nap and about 3 minutes later he came out to tell me he was pooping. We put him on the potty chair and he actually pooped on it! He then took his nap and was completely dry. He wore underwear all day yesterday and pooped on the potty chair 2x. Which is huge for him, b/c he only wanted to go potty before.

I do believe we are making progress, but it scares me to say it out loud:)

How long is forever and ever to a 2 year old?

I was laying on my right side next to Cayden, who was facing me, laying on his left side, when he put his left arm under my neck and his right arm on the top of my neck, pulled his head close to mine and said:

Mommy, (yes Cayden) you're my best friend, forever and ever.

*Sigh* Warm my heart!

(Do you think forever and ever will last at least until he's 90 or only 9?)

Potty

Cayden is far from potty trained, I'm afraid, but he's been wanting to wear underwear so I've been letting him in the morning and then I put a diaper on him when we go somehwere or after his first accident. Today he started to go just a little bit and said, "oh I go potty" and started for the bathroom. So he stopped himself and went the rest of the way in the potty chair. I think that's progress. :)

Before when I played around with potty training him I realized I was simply training myslef to take him potty every 15 minutes and that got old fast so I figured I'd wait unti he was more ready. He's gone poopy on the potty chair quite a few times, but lately he doesn't want to so I guess we'll just have to take it one step at a time.

(it's very weird saying poopy and potty when I know I'm writing to adults, but it's how we talk with him:) )

UPDATE: minutes after I posted this I saw something drip from under Cayden and he was peeing! Seriously, it was less than 5 minutes after he had just stopped himself and went for a long time in the bathroom. This kid pees all the time! 1 step forward, 2 steps back-how long will this last?!

Cayden's Sayings...

Cayden just woke up and Brandon had put him to bed b/c I was at a Tastefully Simple meeting:

Daddy, Daaaady, Daaaaaaaaaady, Dad?, Daddy, Daaaaady, Daaaaaaady....(a few more times) then mommy simple simple party, safely simple party.... (a few more times trying to get it right)


Then later:
Me: You are such a nice boy
Cayden: Yup, I suuure am!


Somewhat out of the blue:
Cayden: Madison's a nice friend, Noah too, and Kristin


Then when he and Madison were having lunch he said, "let's do cheers" and they banged their cups together. Where does he get this stuff?

He really enjoys answering the phone and calling people. I think his favorite part about calling people is that he gets to "push the red button." (hang up)

Also, he's starting to pout. He'll run into another room and hide his face. It's actually kind of cute and funny-much better than tantrums!

London First Night

A little pre trip info:
We were supposed to fly out on Sunday morning around 10:00am. Brandon commented that the first flight probably left late b/c it was so foggy. We got to the ariport after a teary good-bye (us, not him) to our son and saw a sign that they were bumping. I was very bummed b/c we couldn't screw up all our connections for a domestic bump. When I asked about it (b/c I couldn't resist!) I was informed that our flight would be delayed and we would be missing our connection anway. So of course I quickly said, "Sign us up!" So we got bumped-meaning we each received a $300 voucher for a future flight, we got re-routed (skipped a layover in Detroit and flew straight from Mpls to London) and only arrived in London 4 hours later than scheduled. Plus we got to spend more time with Cayden and take a quick nap:)

When we arrived in London we figured out how to get from the airport to the train station, where we bought a 7 day tube/bus/rail pass. (By researching ahead of time I found that if we purchased the pass from the train station and not the sub station we qualified for buy 1 get 1 free deals at area attracations-and they were the same price at either location) and then from the train station to our hotel. We crashed for a little while after settling in and then went to see the sights:

We went to Hard Rock for our first dinner in London and all the prices were what we were used to, $12 for a hamburger and fries was typical for Hard Rock. I had heard that London was very expensive, but I thought it was typical. What wasn't typical? The value of our dollar! We had to pay almost 2 American Dollars for every Britsh Pound. So our $12 hamburger and fries was almost $25pp! A $5 McDonalds meal was priced the same, but in pounds, so we'd have to pay $10 for a McDonalds value meal!

London Day 2

Big Ben is not the clock itself, but is actually the largest chime within this clock?

This was our first full day, we say Big Ben, The Houses of Parliament, No 10 Downing Street (where the prime minsiter lives) and Westminster Abbey.

I tried to follow my travel guides "Best of London in 1 day" schedule, and we only got through 1/2 of it, so it was a good thing we had a week! Each day we missed a couple of things so we were happy to have "extra days" to push the left overs into.
