Hard Days Work

The other day we stopped by Brandon's office and Cayden got right to work:)

Results!

" Mmmm, this is going to be good!"

Blueberry Tart

Blueberry Coffee Crumble Cake
We also made blueberry pancakes for brunch. It was all so delicious!! Thanks Annette and girls for such a fun couple of days.

Hard Work

Cayden did a pretty good job helping make all of the delicious goodies. It was hard for him because he knew there were fun toys in the house, but he managed to have his hands in everything before convincing the girls to play with him.

Blueberry Picking

(Peggy got Cayden crab glasses, you can see him sporting them in this pic)

Yesterday we went to a small town near ours and picked wild blueberries. We weren't sure if we'd be able to find any, but it didn't take too long until we found our first "jackpot." (Annette yelled jackpot at the first large section of blueberries and Cayden quickly caught on. It was most certainly the "word of the day") Cayden, Peggy, Annette, Katelyn, Eliza, and I all went. My goal was to pick enough to get a bowl of blueberries with milk and to have some blueberries over icecream. Stay tuned for the next post to see what all we were able to make with what we picked.

Cayden Sayings

While at Brandon's softball game last night: "Look at those clouds, they are moving South, to North Dakota"

A month or two ago Cayden asked how the baby was going to come out and I told him it would come out of my belly. He wanted to know how, out my belly button? I've heard people say that you need to explain enough so the child understands to their ability. Not to give too much info, but not to avoid the questions either. So I told him the Dr would take the baby out from where I go potty. That seemed a good enough answer for him and he only mentioned it a couple more times. (Those times were quite funny, but they were just among us or my parents) However, at my last Dr appt the nurse asked if Cayden's brother or sister was going to come out soon and he said, "Yup, out my mommy's pee pee." Oh Boy!

I finally realized where Cayden got the name Ramone, it's from the Cars movie and he has a pair of underwear that say Ramone on them. I told him that as I was getting him ready and now every time he tells someone the name he wants to call his baby sister he also tells them because it was on his underwear.

Then tonight I ran into a mom of a kid I worked with years ago and we got to talking about the baby and I just said the Dr said it would be any day b/c the baby was half born and Cayden said, because you're a 2 right? He wouldn't let it rest until I told her I was a +2 station. He's heard me tell family that a lot I guess so he felt she needed to know it too!

Also, a couple of nights ago my dad gassed in the car so my mom gave him a hard time for awhile and then once she stopped Cayden (who was sitting in the backseat) said (in a barely breathing voice) "Can someone please breath for me?!"

36 week checkup

I had a new Dr check me today because my Dr is on vacation. This Dr was very nice and did a great job. I was worried I'd be hurried in and out b/c I wasn't his patient, but he treated me as good as my Dr. I've heard good things about him and I'm glad they were true.

Anyway I don't think I've thinned anymore, but I have dilated to at least a 2 1/2. He also had a hard time reaching my cervix. My cousin (a labor and delivery nurse) said it was probably b/c the head is so low they have to try and reach around the head to check the dilation. It's hard having a different Dr check b/c the measurements aren't an exact science and I've been going by my Drs measurements until now. This Dr said it really could be any day now (but we all know that could mean anything!) However, he was quite shocked at how low the baby was, which made Brandon and I laugh. His first comment was, "wow there's the head, your baby is half-way out already!" I asked if he agreed I was at a +2 station and he said, "oh ya I'll give you that for sure, a good +2, a +3 is where the head is coming."

There's a neat "trick" (for lack of a better term) about measuring the uterus. How ever many weeks you are pregnant is typically how many cm long your uterus is. This has been true for both pregnancies, up until now. Last week I was 34 cm but 35 weeks and this week I was 33 cm and 36 weeks. When I asked the Dr why the change he said, b/c the baby is so low, I'm not expanding up higher anymore, but the baby is actually lower than the pelvic bone. Which I guess makes sense b/c I'm at least 2 cm below the pelvic bone. \

My parents will be gone this week and my Dr is still on vacation, though in the area, so I'll hopefully go another week. I am, however, getting ready to meet this little one. I have everything on my to-do list done, so that feels good:)

Baby 2 Pregnancy

When I was 35 weeks and 6 days pregnant with Baby 2, our friend Sarah took some pregnancy pictures for us. Here are a few of my favorites:

(The rock was slanted, so poor Bran is a little slouched, but I still like the pic:) )

While Sarah and I took pics, our boys played together, they were soo cute!

Cayden's Pregnancy Pics

When I was 35 weeks and 4 days pregnant with Cayden, our friend Glen took some pregnancy pictures for us. Here are a few of my favorites:

(Don't we look so much younger! It's only been 3 years, what'll it be like in 30? Oh boy!)

Love

I was listening to a Beth Moore Bible Study on TV and it was about loving God, so she was discussing love. Cayden was in the kitchen eating his breakfast and I think he was listening, at least to parts because out of the blue he said,

"I love daddy, I love mommy, and I love the baby in your tummy."

Also, he used to think he wanted the baby to be named Sheila, now he tells everyone the baby's name will be Ramone (he pronounces it very specifically, Ra-MOAN). The funny thing is he also tells people he will be having a sister and they look at me to see if it's true. I assure them that whether the baby is a girl or a boy the name will not be Ramone. :)

Progressing

I've said all along I'd have this baby early and it seems the baby agrees. I had my 35 week appt today and I'm no longer allowed to have much physical activity, I'm 75% effaced, about a +2 station and at least 1 cm dilated. My cervix is tilted so it's hard to reach and painful so he didn't push the issue of finding out exactly how dilated I was.

My mom has to be in Brainerd for work the last week in July and they're putting her up at a hotel with all kinds of fun water activities that are free and my Dr said he doesn't think I should go!! I'm so incredibly bummed, I've really been looking forward to it :(

Brandon is a little stressed now, he's so funny. He even offered to carry me to the car after the appointment and said I had to be on bed rest now. He gets a little extreme. :)

Hopefully we'll make it another 2 weeks b/c my doctor is going to be in Canada next week and the week after he'll be home, but won't have his pager on. So it'll be hit or miss if we catch him. I guess I hope I go in, in the middle of the night b/c then I know he'll be reachable:) He's the only doctor that does a cervical block for pain medication and it has no effect whatsoever on the baby and the only thing it does for me is take the edge off the pain. I still know when to push (not like an epidural), I don't feel drunk (like can happen with staidol) and it makes the pain bearable, so I really really hope he'll be my doctor. Besides that, he delivered me when I was born and he delivered Cayden, so I'd really like him to deliver this one. So you can pray I have the baby the beginning of August and not July--and while you're praying, pray we can think of a name! :)

He's a boy!

Completely out of the blue this morning, Cayden said, "last night I was sitting on daddy's lap and I told him I was going to poop on him."

Why would he say that?! (Usually I know where things come from, but this I have to attribute to him being a boy. I don't think there's any other explanation)

Tornados and Lightening

Remember when we went to Wadena and saw the after effects of the Tornado? Well...

Tonight I mentioned to my dad that Bagley might get tornadoes and Cayden got nervous and asked if our roof was going to come off. I asked why he would say that and he said, "because that's what tornadoes do, they take off roofs and doors and make a big mess." When I asked how he knew that he said, "you know when we went by St. Cloud and we saw all those houses..." It amazes me all that he takes in.

Also, at softball tonight Brandon and Cayden were talking about lightening and Brandon said, "there's no lightening right now, but if there was our hair would get messed up" and Cayden said, "no, we'd be dead."

Goodnight Prayer

'Dear God thank you for the storm we had, for the nice storm and thank you for the other storm we're going to have. (a few more really cute things I wanted to remember, but forgot...) I sure do love you God, have a great day, goodbye."

Last night Cayden prayed for a thunder, rain and lightning storm and had a nice long prayer and then said, "that was a good pray wasn't it?" Usually his prayers are "thank you for the num nums amen" (even at night) So the fact that he prayed for something specific and that it was a longer prayer really was nice. Last night we had a pretty big storm for a little bit, so it was fun for Cayden to see his prayer answered.

Parade Videos

Excited for the parade.

Collecting his loot.

Cayden and Grandpa Gale

The effects of "Fun in the Sun"

Cayden missed his nap due to the fun day on the boat and he was so tired when we went for pizza! (Notice the blood shot eyes.) In the video you can see points where he was about ready to fall asleep, but he didn't want to quit eating!

Fun in the Sun

My parents and prego me:)
(Thanks Kelley for the use of your cute suit, I think I will be moving on to the one from Sarah now as this one doesn't exactly cover my belly anymore:) I'm so glad I've been able to borrow clothes this summer! )
My cute parents!

Cayden enjoyed driving the boat all by himself, but the rest of us got a little dizzy because he just went in circles:) (see video on bottom)

Gale and Peggy brought up a boat from Florida and on Sunday we got to enjoy a day on the water. I only wish I could have tubed! As slow as they would have pulled me I probably would have never gotten up so I didn't bother. :)

4th of July

Cayden loves his cousin Abby (sitting with my Uncle Lyle). Notice them holding hands:) They do that all on their own.

At the fireworks with Grandma Pam and Grandpa Alan

Daddy and Cayden were taking lots of pictures of the Fireworks

34 Weeks and counting

I don't think these pictures actually show how much bigger I've gotten! In 1 week the swimsuit fits different and I'm pretty sure this shirt shrunk in the dryer:)

33 week appt

Well the newest update is that I'm at a +1 station and the baby is low! I'm thinning, but not dilating. I have another appt next Thursday because my doctor will be gone the 16th of July until the 2nd of August, so baby has to wait until after that!! (Actually, he will be around home the 25th-2nd, but not necessarily as reachable as after the 2nd). I grow about an inch around in the last week. I noticed my swimsuit doesn't fit as well, multiple people told me I've expanded, and the white ribbon that used to fit around my belly is about an inch from touching.

Cayden saw the baby (my belly) really moving like crazy at the Dr's office and he said, "the baby has never done that before" and started to laugh. He also checked my belly this morning and informed me that I was still pregnant.

Also, awhile ago he said something like, "mommy you are so smart" so I thanked him and he said, "do you know why?" "Because you're pregnant." I wonder what he meant by that...
