We've been giving Cayden choices when he doesn't want to do something.
This morning he asked to crawl in bed with us, after a little while he said, "mommy can I either go play or get a spanking?" I said, "sure you can have a spanking" (just teasing him) and he said, "no, not that choice, go play" (I did let him go play)
Now tonight he's suppsed to be sleeping and I told him he had the choice to go to sleep or get a spanking. A few minutes later he yells out, "going to sleep isn't a good choice mommy."

1...2...
We've started counting if Cayden doesn't obey us right away. In the beginning he would come as soon as we started, but then he started to realize he had until 3 and would wait until we were saying 2. (So we told him he needs to obey right away and we might start spanking on 2 if he's not obeying.) Well tonight he wasn't going to sleep and Brandon said, "do you want me to count to 3?" and Cayden said, "only 1 and 2, not 3"
One other thing: my parents gave him a wallet with $1 in it and he wanted to put the money in his "money bank" so we did. Then he wanted more money for his "waffle" so I told him he'd have to ask grandma-that was Saturday. Today my mom called and his first words were, "I need more money for my wallet" hmmm I'm thinking he might be on to something:)

Darnin Sakes
Well it's a good thing we don't swear around here, because Cayden picks up everything. Even things I didn't think were bad to say, don't sound good when he says them, so we are watching our mouths even more. If I'm really bummed I'll say, "Darn it" or if I'm surprised I might say, "oh goodness sakes" well the other day I heard Cayden say, "Darnin sakes" when he couldn't find the pudding in the cupboard.

Our New Baby
I'm just under 10 weeks, the due date is August 19-20th. It's a long story, but the Dr wanted an ultrasound today. The baby's heartbeat was 187 beats a minute (Cayden was around 150) and everything is great. I'm 9 weeks 5 days and the ultrasound was reading 10 weeks 3 days-so very close. The picture was so much more clear and cute in the room, but you can see the 2 feet on the left and the 2 arms in front of the face on the right. It was so fun to see the feet kicking and the heart beating so fast.
Cayden is sure it's a baby sister. I told him yesterday "it could be a baby brother" and he said, "oh, let me check" he lifted up my shirt and said, "no, it's a baby sister"

Funniest Conversation Yet
I wish, I wish, I wish I could have a video of the conversation Cayden and I just had. The way he said it, with such enthusiasm was so funny! He had just woken up from his nap and I walked into his room...
(pointing at my belly as I walked in)
Cayden: "Hey! Is that my baby sister in there?"
Me: "In here?" (pointing at my belly)
Cayden: "Yes, is that my baby sister?"
Me: laughing, "Yes it is" (ok, no we don't actually know it's a girl, but Cayden sure thinks so)
Cayden: "Hey, I don't have a baby in here" (pointing at his belly)
Me: laughing again, "No, you don't"
Cayden: "Hey! I'm going to be a daddy" (he has been talking about this a lot lately!)
Me: "No you're going to be a big brother, you can't be a daddy until you get married"
Cayden: "Hey! Madison will help me with that!" (see previous post)

The Proposal
Madison: I'm going to marry Cayden someday.
Me: Madison, I'd love to have you for a daughter-in-law
Cayden: Madison, will you marry me?
He looked directly at Madison the whole time, thinking to be sure the sentence came out right.
(In all honesty, I was so shocked he said that, I don't know what Madison's response was:) )

Talk vs. Sleep
I love my kids, I love my kids, I love Madison, Noah, Kristin and Nate, they're my friends. I love my friends..... and so the monologue continued instead of going to sleep.
(As I was typing this, Cayden said, "pbskids.org" is that what you're spelling?)
